  • How to password protect files and directories in cPanel

    1. Log into cPanel.

    2. Go to the Files section and click on the Directory Privacy icon

    3. Then select the directory that you wish to protect

    4. In the Security Settings section, check-mark Password protect this directory option and give a name to the protected directory and then click on the save icon.

    5. In Create User section specify the username and the password that should be used to access this directory.

    6. Click Save in order to save the user that you have edited.

    That is very useful for hiding the directory on the internet from the public..
