  • PowerDNS VS Bind

    Hello Guys,

I am using BIND while setup the WHM but I am curious to know what are the advantages of using PowerDNS over Bind? I have found many people are switching to it.

Can you please share your thoughts on it?

BIND is mostly used in Unix and Linux platforms.whereas, PowerDNS is a high-performance nameserver as compare to the BIND. PDNS is DNS server which supports a variety of data storage back-ends features.

      Hello,

BIND is the default DNS server provided with cPanel. It is considered the most stable, and is the most prevalent in use on the internet. All record types are supported by BIND.One downside to use of BIND/named is that it is more memory-intensive than the other available options, and performs a bit slower due to its need.

PowerDNS is the faster nameserver with low memory usage. It can use any database in backend but within cPanel it uses SQLite database for DNSSEC and same BIND zone files that are used for the other nameserver options. PoweDNS cannot be used with DNS cluster feature in WHM at this time.
